Se-Woon Hong
Dr Se-woon Hong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rural and Bio-systems Engineering at Chonnam National University, South Korea. He received his Ph.D. from Seoul National University and has conducted research at leading international institutes, including KU Leuven and ILVO in Belgium, and the Ohio State University in the United States.
His research focuses on addressing engineering challenges associated with spray drift from both aerial and ground pesticide applications. In particular, he has conducted extensive studies on pesticide drift from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones), investigating the effects of meteorological, crop, and operational factors on off-target drift and its prediction, as well as simulating drift mechanisms using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). In addition, his work includes the development of drone-applicator training systems and research on educational and regulatory frameworks for drone operator licensing.
